Arrrrrrrrgggg Matey!
Well we pulled the pirate party off. It only took until 4 am the night before to finish the pirate ship....then up early to decorate the rest of the house on the day of her party. She loved it all, and it made it all worth it. All the kiddos got a pirate playset when they arrived and left with a bag of treasure. The pirate caves were a couple of tents in a room full of balloons hosted in Kaden's room. Balloons really make 3 year olds happy and it kept them all busy. Addi didn't like everyone singing to her, but other than that it was a very fun party.

planning a party......
I can't believe Addi is turning three this week. Time flies when you're having fun I suppose. Today I am trying to get her party all planned out. Nothing like waiting until the last minute, eh? She has been on a bit of a pirate kick, so I am going to try to pull off a pirate adventure party that my three year old will love. Now I just have to figure out how I am going to turn this living room into a pirate ship, how to make pirate hats, and plan a treasure hunt for wee ones that can't read........This should be fun. But if there is one thing that I learned in college it was how to plan and execute the perfect themed party in a pinch.

Some Easter pics
Things have been busy around these parts. We had a nice easter here at home. Addi had fun enjoying all the perks of the holiday, and Tony and I enjoyed the good food and an adult easter egg hunt with lotto tickets. We have had a steady flow of visiters, our friends on Easter and then Tonys mom who is heading out today. Kaden is growing, eating all the time and as happy as can be. We have some nice weather so I am off to the park for the day with my new stroller and two kids in tow....

Flying solo...
Today is my first day that I am on my own with the two kids. Things are going great, we are enjoying a peaceful day at home. Our only incident was this morning when Addi went into the nursery and climbed up onto the changing table, and then got stuck there. I was feeding Kaden, so she had to wait until he was finished for Mom to come to the rescue. She was a good sport. Little Kaden got circumcised yesterday, and I made Tony take him in. Tony got sick and about passed out, but the two of them are doing fine now. I cooked dinner for the first time last night since we came home from the hospital. I must admit it was a bit stressful at times, keeping an eye on Addi, tending to Kaden and managing all the kitchen tasks, but now that I succeeded I feel like I can handle it all. Kaden's arrival has added quite a bit more laundry to my daily chores, he goes through about five outfits a day along with numerous blankets and burp cloths. I am happy to be moving around and doing my normal chores on my own, although I must admit it was fun to boss my Mother around while she was here. You don't get too many opportunities in life to do that! :o) I feel so blessed that the Lord has given me this family to love and take care of. I honestly believe this is the happiest I have been my entire life, and that is saying alot since I have had a wonderful life with many happy moments. I guess things just keep getting better as you go along....

Well it has been a week and one day since my son was born. I am loving having a new baby in the house again. It is a whole new experience having your second. With my first baby I couldn't wait for her to get to that next stage. I was so excited for her to do the next exciting thing and didn't realize how fast they grow up. Now I feel like I am really cherishing every moment, enjoying every second of his infancy because it will be gone before I know it. Having the new baby in the house has really brought Addi and Tony together, and they are just the best of friends. She was so used to Mommy doing everything for her, and now I really enjoy seeing the two of them spend more time together. Tony went back to work today, and Addi was really sad about it all day long. Tony was headed to a BBQ after work, but decided he better come pick up his little girl and bring her along. I just looked up the meaning of Kaden's name, and it means exciting. Addison's name means Awesome. I would say that sums things up very well. Awesome and Exciting. Life is good here in the Shaffer home.
