First thing Addi did was make a Bucket List for her Summer Break:
1. Read 100 Books (she has read 16 so far)
2. Visit all her Grandparents (We will be making the rounds!)
3. Paint her room YELLOW
4. Go to Silverwood. She earned her own ticket through a six week reading program at her school.
5. Visit her Top 5 playgrounds. 1-Discovery Park, Spokane Valley. 2-Riverfront Park, Spokane WA. 3-Fish Lake, Cheney. 4-Waterfront Park, Medical Lake. 5-Brooklyn's Playground, Pocatello.
6. Have a swimming party in my backyard.
7. Have a bubble party!
8. Go bowling.
9. Go camping. Roast marshmallows, tell spooky stories, sing songs.
10. Stay up extra late and STARGAZE.
11. Go see Disney's "Brave" in the theater.
Tony and I were relieved with her finished summer bucket list and very confident we could pull it all off. The next day we started checking things off her list. We spent the day at Waterfront Park. The weather was perfect and we planned a fun scavenger hunt for the kids to do as they walked around the lake.
The scavenger hunt was a huge success. Kaden located the butterfly and a dragonfly, and Addi found the rest of the items on the list, with a little help from Daddy! The only thing that wasn't checked off was an ant hill. As we were walking back, a rock got in Addi's shoe and we stopped to get it out. We looked down and there was an ant hill! List complete!
The kids playing at the beach.
This week Tony had some time off from work and our good friend Mikal and his son Dino came to stay with us. I haven't seen Dino in one year, and I am pretty sure he has gotten cuter every day since I last saw him. He was so much fun to have around. The boys spent their time golfing and playing video games and I had my hands full with three adorable kids.
Dino loved getting scooter rides around the house!
Addi is REALLY good at reading "Bears in the Night", as you can see.
Movie time!
I figured we could knock a couple things off the bucket list while Dino was here, so we had ourselves a little pool party in the backyard. :o)
Which led right into the bubble party. Check, check. :o)
I took the kids to see "The Bubbleusionist" at the library and Addi was eager to try out some of the tricks she learned.
Then I added colored bubbles to the mix,
and that's when things really got fun!
(and messy)
The giant exercise ball has been great entertainment!
Everyone fights for it, and Kaden usually ends up with it in the end.
I think it should be called "Battle Ball"
Addi has been playing lots of hopscotch, and Kaden has been busy stealing her rock she uses to throw.
Sprinklers keep Kaden 100% occupied. At least the lawn is green! Now RUN!!!!
All that playing works up quite an appetite! I am feeding someone or getting ready to feed someone or cleaning up after feeding someone from sun up to sun down.....
Kaden climbed up in the tree and thought he was hot stuff!
Such a big boy!
It's not a summer afternoon without a popsicle!
Today we took the kids to the Valley to the Discovery Playground. (one more thing to check off the list!) But first a stop at the waterfall!
Discovery Playground is awesome! We had sunshine and smiles all day long!
~SPLASH PAD~
In order to convince the kids to leave the park, we suggested getting ice cream on the way home. As we were driving, Addi saw a giant inflatable cone on top of Krispie Kreme. She yelled, "Daddy, this looks like our ticket to some ice cream! I think it is some sort of treat paradise!" :o) And OH it WAS!
Kaden made a royal mess of himself with that cone. But no worries, he jumped right in his little pool as soon as he got home. Made clean up a cinch! :o)
