Addi's first Broadway Show!

Yesterday was a perfect day. A day that I have been looking forward to for six months. We started the day by going to see Happy Feet 2 at the theater with the whole family. We hurried home and Addi and I put on our pretty dresses and shiney shoes, said goodbye to the boys, and headed into the city to see "Beauty and the Beast", the Broadway Musical. From the time Addi got out of the car, she was the star of the show. Everyone LOVED her dress, she was complimented by everyone she passed. It was her first time being in the INB Performing Arts Center and she was impressed with the size and all the buzz and merchandise from the show. I grabbed her hand and made our way to our seats, trying to hurry past the overpriced merchandise booths her eyes were drawn to. Just then, a man working for the show came up to her and said she looked so beautiful, and gave her a rose from the show. It was so sweet and made her day. Our seats were amazing! The best seats I have ever had in that venue. When the show began, the look on her face was priceless and something I will cherish for the rest of my days. Throughout the show, she kept saying things like, "thank you SO much for bringing me here!", "This is amazing and you are the greatest Mom ever!" When Belle came out in her yellow dress Addi gasped and let out the cutest "Wow!" I had ever heard. She was inspired, thankful, and so happy to be at the show. During intermission she chatted with the people around her. She told them, "Someday, I will be on that stage, and you all will be coming to see me preform!" One lady told her that is really hard to do, and it will take a lot of work. Addi replied, "Oh that's not a problem! The only thing I need to worry about is what to do with my spit when I am singing for such a LONG time!"

Princess Addi's Royal Tea Party

This morning Addi was playing point guard on the court, and this afternoon she was pleased to host a Royal Princess Tea Party. She invited her best stuffed animals, and even her baby brother. She used her best mannors and made sure to extend her pinky while sipping her mango passionfruit tea, with two lumps of sugar and a splash of cream. There were chocolate croissants, little heart cakes, candy sticks, a veggie tray, pineapple starfruit juice and an amazing assortment of tea of course. Addi has been working so hard at school, basketball and home that she deserves a weekend all about her. Tonight we will paint her nails and put curlers in, and tomorrow we have a very special day planned for her.

Just a day in the life!

I had the best day yesterday with the kids. We drove to the theater and enjoyed the snow covered scenery, sunshine, and dry roads. The kids were excited, smiles on both their faces. They both promised to be good at the show, and we got some popcorn and candy and headed in to the show. The movie was a "commercial" that is what Addi calls any show that isn't animated. I knew Kaden would have a hard time sitting through it, but it was worth a shot. The kids were cracking me up as they politely swapped the snacks back and forth. About 45 minutes in, Kaden decided he didn't want to sit in his seat anymore. He got up and picked a seat clear down the row. I returned him to his seat, and he repeatedly got up, so he was forced to sit on Mom's lap, on lockdown. Addi moved over to Kadens seat to be next to us, and Kaden freaked out, still claiming possesion of the empty seat. He yelled, "shue Addi! Go away! Get out!" Until I asked her to move and that hurt her feelings. So I then had that to deal with. I got them both quiet again, and Kaden started getting bored, and began pointing to his various body parts, stating their names for all to hear. "Nose! Eyes! Eye brows!" I attempted to threaten him by whispering, "If you don't sit down, and be quiet we are going to leave and go home!" He smiled up at me and hopped off my lap, "Ok, Ma! Let's go!" Alright, I guess we are leaving! We lasted one hour. In the car Addi wanted to clear the air and affirm that it was all her brothers fault we had to leave. Then she said, "Mom, I hope we didn't ruin your perfect day!" I looked in my rearview at their cute little faces, and told them "No way! My day is far from ruined!" And that was the truth. We came home and played hours of "balloon ball". You know the game, the balloon must stay in motion and must never land on the ground. They couldn't stop giggling, and we were all having so much fun. We picked Daddy up from work, picked up a pizza and came home to watch some football. After the game it was time to read! Addi is earning a ticket to Silverwood by reading for 600 minutes in 6 weeks. Because Kaden will be going to Silverwood too, we make him sit down and read too. Although no one has to force that kid to read. He loves books! And then it was bedtime. The snow had been falling for a couple hours, and I prayed for a snow day so we could spend the entire day together again tomorrow. It didn't work, so now it's time to get Addi off to school for another busy week!

Wild Cats first game

This morning was Addi's very first basketball game. She did great, and had fun. The parents had the best entertainment in the world! Five year olds playing on 8 foot hoops, learning the basics of one of the greastest games played. The final score was 6-4, the Wild Cats lost to the Air Force in a final seconds shot. All the kids left feeling like a champion, and our little star is already looking forward to her next game. :o) Last night we made heart sugar cookies, because as Addi says, "it's never to early to celebrate Valentines Day!"

More ~snowfall~

Yesterday it didn't stop snowing all day. Right after breakfast the kids and I went on a nice walk through town to city hall to pay the water bill. I sent Addi off to school on the bus even though I wanted to keep her home with us. That night at practice Addi's team had their first scrimage in prep for Saturdays game. During warmups Kaden watched anxiously on the sidelines and Addi's coach took pity on him and called him in to join the team. He hurriedly ran to the black line next to his big sister and ran the "red light, green light" drill to my amazement, keeping in pace with the rest of the kids. I finally took him off the court kicking and screaming because he wasn't giving Addi enough space and she needed to focus. He still has 3 more years until he is old enough to play, but I think I will petition to have him start earlier. He is already taller then half of Addi's team. After practice we were happy to come home to peanut butter cookies I made while Addi was at school. Tony made it home a short time later after a day spent snowboarding on Silver Mountain. The powder he was so excited to get to that he would drive over mountain passes in the worst storm of the winter season ended up completely kicking his butt. It takes alot of energy digging yourself out of all that snow! He is going to be moving slow the next couple days, (as horrible as it may sound, and keeping in mind I am a stay at home Mom, long overdue of a vacation or personal day) and that brings me a little joy. I know, I'm horrible! But at least with every sore muscle moved he will remember his fun day on the mountain! :o) Today the snow plow came down our street, the neighbor came over with his snow blower, clearing out the driveway, walkway, and mailbox, and shortly after the mail was delivered so it looks like we will survive this storm!

~snowfall~

We were hit by a winter storm leaving us covered in snow. The kids enjoyed getting out in the white stuff to play before Addi left for school. For now the snow is welcomed. Basketball is going great, the Wild Cats are gearing up for their first game this coming Saturday. After a great practice last night Addi informed me she had worked up quite an appetite, so on the way home we stopped by the pizza place to fill her up. Addi finished her night by reading books with her Daddy and was convinced it was the perfect, most fun day ever. She makes it easy!
