Family and Friends
Yesterday Addi's friend Julian came over for a playdate. It had been a few weeks since they got together and when they saw eachother they embraced in a hug like long lost friends. Addi told him, "Thankyou so much for coming to Addi's house! I missed you so much!" I know the feeling. This past weekend we made the long long drive home to Pocatello to visit friends and family. Both Tony and I grew up down there and it is always fun (and extremely hectic)to go visit. My best friend was throwing a party for her husbands 30th birthday. Shannon and I have been friends since the 5th grade. Even though we are polar opposites, we have always been the best of friends. She is more like a sister because I know I will always love her unconditionally. Up until I moved away for college we were literally attached at the hip. Moving 600 miles away from her has been hard, but we keep in touch and get together as much as possible. And when we are together we pick right up where we left off. Shannon and her husband have been together since we were in the 9th grade. It has been quite the love story and I have enjoyed every page turning second of it. He is a Marsh Valley boy and so naturally my teenage years were spent hanging out with Marsh Valley boys as well. The two of them have double dated with me throughout high school and college, and now as the fabulous Mrs.Tony Shaffer. Funny thing is I moved 600 miles away and still fell in love with a Marsh Valley boy. What is it about those boys that makes them so irresistable?? ;o) So it is extra fun to get together because our husbands are friends with the same group of boys. I would say it is even a little too much fun, and probably a good thing that we do live hundreds of miles away. :o) Of course going home also means getting together with family. My brother (who married a Marsh Valley girl) and his family are the only family members from my side in Poky. And then there is Tony's family. IT is HUGE to say the least. We always have too many people to see and not enough time to see them all. I think Addi has her grandparents all straight after this trip. She has been naming them all off, all 6 Papas and 8 grandmas. I am quite impressed. I try to name them off and she chimes in, "Don't forget my Grandma Shaffer and My Grandma DAWSON!" Anyways, it was a very nice trip, but we are happy to be back in Moscow. Back to our laid back simple life. Where it takes 5 minutes to get where you need to go, and you always have the option to walk instead of drive. Back to the rolling hills and our normal routine. Dinner is in the crock pot and I will love my babies all day til my husband comes home to join us for dinner. Put the kids to bed and watch a movie together. And thank the Lord for all the amazing family and friends he has blessed us with....
