Husband Tag

His full name: Anthony Dean Shaffer

Where did you meet? I met Tony at his first apartment, I think they were called the Village apartments. We both grew up in the same area, but we would have never met if I hadn't gone to college at the U of I, joined the Alpha Gamma Delta Sorority and become friends with Mandi Kay. Since Mandi and I were both from the Pocatello area we hung out when we were both home for Thanksgiving break, and we went to a party at her friend Tony's house. I have to say he did not make a good first impression on me. He was new to the whole "party" scene, and not so good at holding his alcohol. :o) I wasn't very pleased when we had to pile into Mandi's little bug and this Tony guy was trying to put his arm around me. I believe my words were, "Mandi can you please get your drunk friend off of me!" hahaha.
Who asked who out first: Well over the next year after we first met we continued to hang out since we were both close friends with Mandi. It was that next Thanksgiving break when we started to become more than just friends. I personally thought it was more casual, but when I got back to school and he started calling all the time I knew he wanted more.
Who kissed who first? I think it was a mutual thing. We both wanted it.
When and where was your first kiss? The Cotton Club lounge in Poky, by the pool tables.
Who said I love you first: I did. After we had been dating for a couple months and we spent a month together over Christmas I just knew he was the man I wanted to spend the rest of my life with. So I told him.
How long did you date: Almost 4 years
How long have you been married: 3 1/2 years
Do you have any children? Yes, one beautiful daughter and a son on his way very soon!
Who admits when they're wrong first: Tony for sure. I am the stubborn one, and besides I am never wrong! ;o)
Who wears the pants: I like to make him think he does, but it is like the saying "the man is the head, but the woman is the neck and she can turn the head whatever direction she wants"
What is your favorite feature of his? I love the whole package.
Does he have a nickname for you? He calls me wife. I call him husband.
What is his favorite food? Anything I make. I have never heard him complain about the food I cook and he always cleans his plate.
What is his favorite sport? Football! He is obsessed! Sundays are sacred around here, not because of church, but because of football. He gets Sunday ticket so he doesn't miss a single game and has multiple tv's set up. He goes to bed every night watching NFL network, even in the off season. Every Wednesday night he goes to the Corner Club to talk football with a bunch of old men. And while I was in labor with Addison he was busy watching the NFL draft and taking notes..........
Does he have a hidden talent? He is really good at Math, which is good because I completely suck at math. But he would probably say his best talent has to do with his video game skills.
How old is he? 25
What’s his favorite type of music? Classic Rock, specifically the Rolling Stones.
Who's taller: He is 6'4", and I am 5'9".
Who sings better: Me for sure!!! The man can't carry a note.
Who is smarter: I am more book smart and good at taking tests. But I would say we both challenge each other, both have our strengths, and so we are on equal ground.
Who does the laundry: ME! He is completely hopeless when it comes to housework of any kind.
Who pays the bills: We both do. We both take responsibility for certain bills.
Who sleeps on the right side of the bed: I do!
Who mows the lawn: We don't have a lawn, just bushes and bark. But when we do have a yard I will do the yard work. I love to.
Who cooks dinner: That would be me.
Who drives: I make him drive. That is just how it always was in my family, so I tell him that is the husbands job to drive. Then he tells me for claiming to be a feminist I have some backwards ways of thinking. :o)
Do you think he will read this? Probably not, he really pays very little attention to “our” blog.
What do you admire most about him? He is a really hard worker and a people person. When he first moved here he was just some kid working in the Rosauers Deli, now he runs half the store and is in charge of so many employees, most of which are much older than him. Also he is such a good Dad. I love to watch him interact with his daughter, so playful and loving. Bottom line he is a family man and always puts us first.

So life has been busy around here. I thought I would post something before I start dinner. We had my cousin and his family here this weekend. His 6 year old son had a hockey tournament here in Moscow, and the rink is a block from our house. They went undefeated and won the tournament. Our Valentines day was fun, Tony got me the most beautiful flower arrangement I have ever seen with red roses, pink lilies, and lots of purple flowers. I would post a picture, but as you all know I am camera-less at the moment. We put all the kids to bed early and stayed up late playing board games with my Cousin and his wife Kim who has turned into one of my dearest friends over the past years. If you haven't played the game Apples to Apples, I highly recommend it. Monday I had a nice day with my friend Jenny. We went shopping all day, I got my hair cut, and we went out for a nice lunch. We laughed about it being my last taste of freedom, but it probably was my last outing by myself before this baby comes. The nursery is completely finished and so so cute. I will post some pics as soon as I can. All his newborn clothes are washed and ready to go, and today I made him a blanket since I realized all the ones we have are pink. My double stroller arrived in the mail yesterday and I can't wait to walk all over Moscow with my two kids. Today Tony's new Lazy Boy arrived, and he had a really hard time going to work. :o) I don't know if he realizes that he is going to have to fight me for it.....Tony bought the Wii Fit, and part of the game is making a fitness/ weight loss goal. I plan to do the same, and since I am having a baby sometime in the next month, I should kick some butt!! We had an ultrasound on Tuesday and the baby looks great, and he is head down in the ready position. I have to go back this Friday for another ultrasound to determine if I have to have a c-section because my placenta is too close to my cervix. If the placenta is torn or damaged during labor before the baby is delivered it can cause the mother to bleed to death, so I suppose I will take the c-section if need be. We are getting so excited for our new arrival, and I finally feel prepared. Oh, and now Tony wants to name the baby Anthony so we will be battling this one out until the end. I even put Jax Dean up on the wall in the nursery, but it didn't seem to effect his opposition to the name. It's just that I have been calling him Jax for months now, and it just feels right to me. Besides, I already have one Anthony in my life. :o) Time will only tell how this one plays out. Well I have to work tonight so I better get dinner going.

Put on your happy face

Well I finally did get the attitude adjustment I needed. Things are never as bad as they seem in the eye of the storm. I realize now that everything is going to work out just fine, and I am ready for all the craziness ahead. The nursery is finally coming together, which makes me the happiest. It has been very theraputic for me to spend time in that room and transform it into my son's nursery. Today Tony is snowboarding at Silver Mt, and Addi and I went to lunch and then did some shopping. Little by little I am getting everything ready. I have less than a month left at work, then I am off until June. I have been considering buying a chest freezer and just preparing a bunch of meals in advance. I suppose I better get on that, or I will be relying on Tony to feed me dinner for a while. I feel silly for being so depressed about stupid things. I am blessed with so many wonderful things in my life and need to always focus on the positive. I am lucky enough to have a beautiful healthy daughter, and a son on the way. A husband who loves me and treats me fabulous. A roof over my head, food in my belly and a steady paycheck coming in. One of my problems is I always have things planned out in my head, and when things don't go as planned, I think it is the end of the world. It's about time I just accept that I am not in control of everything and sit back and enjoy the ride......
